i set a lot of my games in SF because it’s a good urban landscape that i know fairly well. most of the places in my fictional san fran are either real places i’ve glammed up or based on real places or a combination of several places.
places to go:
The Hollywood — a somewhat sleazy (but what dive isn’t?) bar in the upper Mission, just outside downtown SF. it typically attracts the goth, tranny, and Power Exchange crowd, being very freak-friendly.
The Power Exchange — notorious sex club in the Mission district. 3 floors (top floor is men-only) with a variety of rooms for various kinks and fetishes — you name it, they probably have something that caters to it. there’s a juice bar, a small shop (which sells condoms, lube, and a small selection of cock rings, dildos, vibrators, and other toys), and a porn screening room as well as a large ballroom area suitable for conventions or fashion shows.
Haight/Ashbury – historically the home of hippie love shit, the Haight now attracts freaks and outcasts from all backgrounds. occasional roaming nazi punk gangs hang around after dark, but otherwise the area is largely peaceful.
The Panhandle — at the end of Golden Gate Park and parallel to Haight is the Panhandle. Homeless people, drug dealers, pimps and tricks make up the population of the Panhandle. Lots of pockets of somewhat secluded areas and nearby alleys make this place a dangerous one to walk in alone after dark.
The Occult Shop – just off Haight, this place attracts seasoned Mages as well as new age types. the facade that is kept for the casual shoppers is a slightly more exotic new age/magic shop. however, for real foci and tools for an Awakened Mage, there is a back room with all sorts of goodies and talismans. the shop is built on top of a magical node, as well, and is a sanctuary for orphaned or on-the-run Mages.
…more coming soon…
